Nicely done send-up of 1950s-era Sci-Fi
OK, just so you know, I'm a HUGE fan of both 1950s science-fiction movies, as well as modern-day "homages" or parodies. Also a big fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000; so when I saw the listing for Atomic Brain Invasion, (and subsequently checked out the trailer on YouTube) I got pretty darn excited - it's exactly what it appears to be - a low-budget, but surprisingly well-produced take on those wonderful films of the Fifties. Starting off with a hammy introduction (a la "Plan 9 From Outer Space [Blu-ray]") by an earnest, redundant "scientist" on grainy black and white film, the movie switches to color, and introduces us to all the stock players who populate these kinds of films: the nerdy, intelligent kid; the girl who secretly loves him; the bully/jock (who harbors his own secret passion), the clueless townsfolk, and the HOO-RAH Army General, all of whose lives are altered forever when not one, but TWO alien...
Cult-Classic Movie
I can't get enough of these Grade B (Cult Classic) Movies. This one ranks with the Troma Series and The Incredible Melting Man. Great to laugh with and unwind!!!
